The quick actions of staff and officers in Kenilworth have been praised after a shoplifter was chased and arrested today (31 May).

Kenilworth Watch said the thief was pursued from "a leading chemist and retailer" in the town centre - thought to be Boots - by staff, before PCSO's Craig Ricardo and Sharlene Morgan were alerted by then town's retail link radio and responded.

The woman was then apprehended by the officers and subsequently arrested on Waverley Road.

A bag of items taken from the retailer was reportedly recovered nearby containing goods amounting to a significant value.

"This event demonstrates how Kenilworth's community acting quickly and working together can, alongside Warwickshire Police have an effective impact on deterring, preventing and stopping crime as well as delivering a positive result when crime is or has been committed," a Kenilworth Watch statement said.

"Kenilworth Watch would like to like to say well done and thanks to both Craig and Sharlene for their actions on Friday and for helping keep our town as safe as possible."
