Police are urging Warwickshire drivers to stay at home as the conditions on local roads worsen.

Warwickshire Police said there had been 20 reports of collisions and stranded vehicles in just an hour.

"With conditions on the roads in parts of the county getting worse by the minute, we are asking everyone to consider whether their journey is absolutely essential this evening," a force statement said.

"Non-major roads in particular are quite badly affected."

It added: "At the moment, if you set off there is a chance your vehicle could become stranded.

"As we continue to make sure that those who need our help the most get it, we may well be unable to attend reports of stranded vehicles unless there is an imminent risk to people.

"Please stay home if you can, enjoy the weather and above all, stay safe."
