A local dog walking business has applied for permission to turn a current equestrian field into a dog day care space.

Mogz and Dogz has applied for permission from Warwick District Council to start using the 2.7 acre field and three buildings at Swallowfield Equestrian to accommodate up to 35 dogs per day.

The Balsall Common based company - which is run by former Police officers Mark and Susan Young - already offers dog walking services across the area.

The website says all walks currently are "carried out in parkland, woods and our own network of fields".

If approved, this application would see the field at the Rising Lane site in Kingswood turned into another dog walking space for the firm.

The dog walking space would run alongside the existing riding stables.

Plans show the current access and parking facilities would be used and the field be used from 9am to 2pm every day.

Before and after this, dogs would be housed in the buildings or a dog run area.

"Demand for dog day care services and dog walking fields has significantly grown across the UK," the application said.

"This is partly due to the benefits that such facilities offer but also due to the rising numbers of households owning a dog and the subsequent increase in demand."

The application says most dogs would be collected by staff in company vans, with just a few customers dropping off their dogs directly to the green belt site.

The company website says: "Having served in the Police as a dog handler, Mark has the experience and knowledge to understand what your dog needs.

"All dogs need regular exercise to keep them fit and healthy and to stimulate their mind and body.

"Some common bad behaviour traits can be fixed with frequent walks and exercise as this stops your dog from becoming frustrated. We also enforce behavioural techniques like obedience training and positive reinforcement during our dog walking."
