A former Christian charity shop in Kenilworth can now been given a new look, as plans to remodel the front of the building have been given the green light by district planners.

Home care company Unique Senior Care - which opened this summer - has been granted planning permission to give the shopfront at The Square a makeover.

Works approved by Warwick District Council (WDC) will see the current wooden frames replaced with a "more modern and energy efficient double glazed aluminium" design.

The scheme will also see the door of the former charity shop moved to make an "easier and level access from the pavement".

Kenilworth Town Council's planning committee recently discussed the application, and while not objecting, said the changes should be in keeping with the rest of the street.

The shop had previously been run by Christian Charity Global Care, until the store closed in 2021. It has been vacant since.

Approving the application, a WDC report said: "Relatively modest changes are proposed which are considered to improve the appearance of the shop front.

"The proposal appears more modern and with the elevation appears more balanced.

"No objections have been submitted expressing concerns over the design of the new shop front.

"The design is considered appropriate for the varied character of the immediate surrounding area and will harmonise with the other shop fronts."
