Plans for another 5G mast in Kenilworth have been revealed.

Freshwave Facilities Limited has asked Warwick District Council for prior approval for the 25 metre-high structure at Kenilworth Golf Club, Crewe Lane.

The application said the mast is needed to replace one which will be removed at Kenilworth Rugby Club on Glasshouse Lane.

"As part of VMO2's continued network improvement program, there is a specific requirement for a replacement installation at this location to provide replacement 2G, 4G and new 5G coverage and capacity, ensuring that this area of Kenilworth has access to the latest technologies," the application said.

Plans show some 15 other locations in the area were considered for the mast, but all were discounted for various reasons.

"The siting of the proposed radio base station has been carefully considered and is located on private land in the car park at Kenilworth Golf Club, on existing hardstanding to the south east of the club buildings," the application added.

"The site is enclosed to the south and east by a mature hedgerow and trees."

It continued: "A new replacement site in this location will ensure that the security of the latest technologies will be provided into the network particularly for the data hungry applications of the latest smart hand-held devices.

"The operator has followed a sequential approach to site finding and identified this site as part of this process."
