Residents are being invited to share photographs and memorabilia of Kenilworth Lido for an exhibition charting the 125th anniversary of outdoor swimming in the town.

Organised by the Lido Campaign Group, the celebration will take place this June, 125 years since the pool first opened in 1896.

Anybody who has photographs, swimming badges, certificates or even just memories of the pool that they wish to share, can do so. Items are being collected by Kenilworth Books, both in shop and via email.

Once items have been collected and organised, the group will be using the empty 'Poundland' and 'Thorntons' units on Warwick Road to display the artefacts.

The lido group has said: "So much has happened over these 125 years, so many memories captured, so many stories told and so many happy occasions celebrated.

"The lido campaign team invites all residents present and past to send or hand in their memorabilia (photographs, stories, recollections, gala badges, old costumes, indeed anything linking the Town to its famous lido) to [email protected] or to hand them in at the shop in Talisman Square."

The exhibition will be another instalment in a calendar of collections which have been displayed for free in the Warwick Road window.

The group added: "Let's make this a very happy celebration with perhaps a touch of humour. Who's still got a very early rubber ring, who's got a costume from a very bygone day, who's got their old arm bands or water wings hidden away still?

"Many of us can find photographs of days gone by at the outdoor pool; please loan these to the display for the celebration; all will be returned.

"Don't worry if the images are tiny, the organisers have the facilities to 'blow' them up to A3.

"Please write your stories, your memories (leave out names if needs be) but please let's collect as many memories as we possible can. All will be returned to their owners after the celebration."
