Part of Kenilworth Castle to open to public for first time next year

Councillors are hoping a section of Kenilworth Castle which has never been available to the public before may open in time for next year's Mayor Making.
Nub News reported earlier this year that English Heritage wants to make the 'water tower' at the town centre tourist attraction available to visitors.
Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) has already signed off on a £6,000 grant to English Heritage to help get this part of the castle open.
And giving an update last week, Cllr Kate Dickson said it is hoped the tower will open around May 2027.
"At the last [council] meeting, we agreed EH could defer taking their grant to do the water tower at the castle," she said at last week's KTC meeting.
"We heard this afternoon this is to go ahead and will be spent by the end of the financial year.
"We are hoping it will be open potentially by the time we will have Mayor Making."
The funding comes from the council's CIL budget - money raised from local housing developers to be spent on local infrastructure.
It will be used to provide handrails, barriers and railings to make this section of the castle safe.
Previously it was hoped the water tower would open this September.
The charity says the opening will coincide with a "dedicated local event".
