Old Jaguar Land Rover buildings in Coventry will be knocked down for redevelopment.

Property group Goodman got the go-ahead from Coventry council last week to demolish the warehouse and office at Sayer Drive.

The buildings are on a 7.5 acre plot on the company's former Browns Lane site. Most of the land was sold to the company and developers Stoford back in 2007, two years after the car firm ended its production at the plant.

But the last piece was not bought by Goodman until April this year. The sale was handled by Colliers and team director Simon Norton said the land would be redeveloped to "complement" neighbouring Lyons Park.

"Their plans will add to the quality, mix and range of commercial space in the area," he added.

Most of the JLR site was renamed Lyons Park after it was sold 17 years ago, and the area is now an industrial hub where the city's huge Amazon distribution centre is based.

Work to tear down the buildings at Browns Lane is due to start next week, 8 July, and will finish in late October according to the application.

The site is home to an Education Business Partnership Centre (EBPC,) papers say.
