The landlord of a popular pub in Kenilworth is looking for a new tenant after the current publican handed in his notice.

Stonegate Group is now looking for a new partner at The Gauntlet after the current tenant Simon Moore decided he did not want to continue running the Oaks Precinct venue.

Simon, who has run the Gauntlet since 2018, will continue to manage the pub as it stays open for the foreseeable future while a new tenant is found.

He told Nub News he was "very sad" to be letting the pub go and said he had "put everything into making this one of the best community pubs around".

And he said the pub being hit with uncapped energy price hikes as well as the knock on effects of rising costs from suppliers had "sadly" stopped the Gauntlet from being a viable business option for him.

"The pub and its customers hold a very dear place in my heart," he added.

Simon recently let a local petanque team turn the pub's car park into a pitch as they were displaced from Castle Farm during the redevelopment works.

Stonegate is now advertising the vacancy on its website and says the pub offers a potential average turnover of £374,000.

Regional manager John said: "The Gauntlet is a fantastic opportunity for a new publican to establish themselves in a very credible business.

"I have been successfully working with publicans to develop strong food led offers at unbranded destination businesses for over 20 years.

"I can help support and grow your business through industry accreditations, knowledge to help you drive sales, food safety standards, menu development and wet sales category management.

"I am also here to support you across many areas of your pub business, encouraging and guiding you along the way."

The group is also looking for a new landlord at The Navigation in Lapworth.
