New pavement completed as Kenilworth road reopens after month-long repairs

A Kenilworth road has fully reopened after works to resurface its pavements were completed last week.

Moseley Road was shut from June 15 until July 7 for the works which have seen the footpaths on both sides of the road repaired.

The road was shut from its junctions with Birches Lane to Thornby Avenue before the works concluded on July 7.

However, the works did see a young tree "ripped up" during the works by contractors.

One local wrote to Nub News to share her frustration that a "beautiful" magnolia tree had been removed in a "thoughtless" act.

Warwickshire County Council - which led the works - confirmed to Nub News the tree would be replaced.

A spokesperson said: "Regrettably, during work on one of our footway schemes on Moseley Road in Kenilworth, a sapling was damaged and subsequently removed by our contractor.

"We have put arrangements in place to ensure that the sapling will be replaced in the next planting season."
