A new hair salon has opened in the centre of Kenilworth in the former 'Stitched Up' unit in Smalley Place.

Owned by Elaine Hancock, H&Co Hair and Beauty opened last Tuesday (March 29) after a short move across town.

Elaine, who has run Angels Hairdressing at Angels Boutique on High Street for the last 16 years, decided now was the time for a change.

"We have had 16 lovely years at Angels but it had come to the stage where it was time to have a change and to be more in town and with our own shop front," she said.

"With the pandemic it just made you re-evaluate everything, so I decided to make the move.

"I had looked at a few other shops but I just liked the position of Smalley Place, you know you get a feeling when you walk in somewhere and it is just right, so that is why we took it."

Having been given the keys in January she has spent the last few months renovating and redecorating the shop to turn it into a salon.

During the build Elaine was still running the business at Angels, right up until the weekend before opening H&Co.

Angels Boutique is still open as normal on High Street.

"We're a busy little salon and we didn't want our clients to have a break at all so we managed to go over straight away," Elaine added.

"It was a bit like moving house, with 16 years of stuff to bring over, so it was a bit of a nightmare but we're settled now – although we can't find anything!

"We've had walls taken down and rebuilt, we've had all the electrics redone, all the plumbing done so its all suitable for a salon. And of course all the décor and decorating."

H&Co, which is a Keune salon and specialises in colouring, has already hit the ground running and received lots of positive feedback.

"All of our clients have been brilliant," she said.

"Last week we were inundated with bottles of champagne and flowers – it looks like a florists in here!

"Everyone has been really supportive and people are also happy that we are on the ground floor."
