A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash with a van at a busy junction in Balsall Common.

Emergency services were called to the crossroads of Waste Lane and Hodgetts Lane at 8.20am Tuesday morning.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The van involved in the crash was one of Balfour Beatty Vinci - the contractors delivering the HS2 works in the area.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called at around 8.20am to a collision involving a motorbike and a van.

"The motorcyclist was taken to hospital, with injuries not believed to be life-threatening."

And the junction itself had new safety measures installed by HS2 at the beginning of 2021.

Funding was secured by the high speed rail developers for new road signs, cats eyes and markings to be completed.
