UPDATE: Month-long road closure postponed as latest plans for 56m HS2 bridge approved

The month-long closure of a Stoneleigh road for HS2 bridge works has been delayed at the last minute - but new plans for the bridge have been approved.
Warwick District Council has given the green light to the latest designs for the structure, with HS2 submitting a third application for consideration.
Previous submissions for the 56 metre-long bridge for Ashow Road were approved in 2021 and 2024, but updated designs have now been signed off.
The 10.68 metre-wide bridge will carry the B4115 over the new HS2 line.
The road was due to close for a month from Monday 18 August to "complete the final utility connections and carriageway tie in work" for the new bridge.
But HS2 has announced today (August 15), this has been pushed back until September 8. It will last until October 5.
The project will also see public footpath W158 realigned, with a 20 metre underpass due to be incorporated into the design of the bridge.

"The application has been submitted to include details which were omitted in the initial submission, or may have been modified since consenting," a council report said.
"This is due to design evolution and the project reaching maturity, and modifications necessitated by consenting under separate schedules of the [HS2] Act."
Explaining the designs, HS2's application said: "The proposed structure is a three-span integral bridge comprising of precast, pretensioned T-beams for each span with an in-situ reinforced concrete deck.
"The precast beams will be designed to act compositely with the deck slab, supported through full strength construction joints at the pier diaphragms and abutments."
