A 22-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving after an incident in Kenilworth last night (January 4) led to residents being evacuated from their homes.
Houses along Stoneleigh Road were evacuated after a blue Saab crashed into two cars and then ruptured a gas main.
The driver, from Oxfordshire, had already failed to stop for police on the A46 and reached speeds of 150mph before "trying his luck" on the smaller roads and heading into Kenilworth.
Police said nobody was seriously injured and officers have thanked staff at the Engine Inn for looking after the residents who were forced out of their homes.
The driver has also be charged with failing to stop for police.
He will appear in court in March.
A police spokesperson said: "The car, that had failed to stop for police on the A46, and reached speeds of almost 150mph, tried its luck on the smaller roads and came into Kenilworth on Dalehouse Lane.
"As it approached the Cottage pub it crashed into a blue BMW and subsequently into a Peugeot where it ruptured a gas main.
"Thankfully no one was seriously injured. The driver was arrested and charged with Dangerous driving and Fail to stop for police.
"Thank you to all the residents affected and also the Engine Public House that became the evacuation centre whilst Warwickshire and Rescue service and Cadent Gas made the area safe."
