A 36-year-old man from Warwickshire was arrested on suspicion of death by careless driving after two people died during a crash on the M40 on Saturday evening (July 15).

Emergency services were called to the motorway between j16 and j15 at 6.10pm following the collision between a Ford Fiesta and a van.

The two occupants of the Fiesta, a 31-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, both died following the incident.

Their next have kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Warwickshire Police is now appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage.

"We would urge any witnesses who may have seen either vehicle in the lead up to the collision, or seen the collision itself, to please get in touch.

"Anyone with any information or dashcam footage is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101 or report online at warwickshire.police.uk/ro, quoting incident number 276 of 15 July 2023."
