Delays on the M40 around Warwick this afternoon (November 28) were due to a crash involving the Real Madrid club coach.

The team bus - on its way south following the team's resounding 2-0 defeat to Liverpool last night - was reportedly involved in a collision with a lorry and a car on the motorway at around 1.30pm.

None of the players were injured.

All three lanes of the southbound carriageway were initially shut between junctions 16 (Hockley Heath) and 15 (Warwick).

Initially two lanes were reopened.

Traffic has now reportedly returned to normal.

A Warwickshire Police statement said: "Our officers responded to reports of a collision involving a car, a lorry, and the coach of a well-known football team on the M40 southbound between j16 and j15.

"Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured.

"The players from the team were not on the coach at the time."

Videos of the incident have already begun circulating on social media.

Following this Warwickshire Police has released a second statement reminding people "it is illegal to take photos and videos while in control of a vehicle".

The club coach itself is only a month old, having been unveiled by Real Madrid ahead of its clash with Celta Vigo in October.

The vehicle was decorated with a list of the most important titles won throughout the club's history.

More to follow.
