Local residents will abseil down the side of Kenilworth's Holiday Inn next month to raise money for local community projects.

Run by Kenilworth Round Table, the event will be held on July 30, the same day as the Kenilworth Food Festival, with around 40 people coming down the 100ft building.

The charity is encouraging local residents to sign up, with the abseil open to over 18's.

Organisers said: "This event is sure to give you an adrenaline rush and one of the most unique views in Kenilworth!

"Why not take a walk on the wild side down Kenilworth Holiday Inn?

"Email [email protected] with the following information to book your slot and get your donation form"

Participants will need to pay £30 to book their space and are given a £100 target to raise in sponsorship and donations.

And Kenilworth Round Table has also said there is no maximum age of entrants!

"These activities are mentally and physically challenging, but we will not stop any older person from having a go if they believe themselves to be fit enough," organisers added.

"If there is any doubt, we advise that the participant should ask their doctor."

The event is one of a number of fundraising initiatives organised by Round Table, alongside their annual Santa sleigh.

More information is available on Kenilworth Round Table's Facebook page.

Running on the same day, Kenilworth Food Festival will see around 90 traders bring a range of food and drink for local people to sample.

Last year's event saw an arts and crafts market set up in Talisman Square, and there was also live music throughout the day.
