A northbound lane of the A46 has been closed after a horse loose on the road was hit and killed by a lorry.

Highways England report that the lane remains closed just before the junction with the A452 - the other two northbound lanes are in service.

Warwickshire Police confirmed that four horses were loose on the carriageway at around 6.00am this morning (March 2), and that one was hit and killed by the lorry.

The other three horses have been safely removed from the carriageway.

Highway England's website predicts that the lane will reopen by 12.15pm.
