With so many of our services stretched during the past nine months, the Mayor of Kenilworth has taken the time to thank the work being done at the Royal Mail Delivery Office in Kenilworth.

Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Richard Dickson visited the sorting office this morning (Tuesday, December 1) to wish the staff there a Merry Christmas, as well as to thank them for the vital work that they have been doing during the past nine months.

The two national lockdowns of 2020 have seen a rise in parcel deliveries across the country, as consumers switch to shopping online due to high street stores being closed.

The BBC reported in early November that during the first half of the financial year Royal Mail had made more money from parcels than from letters, for the first time ever.

Speaking to Nub News Cllr Dickson said "It was a privilege as Mayor of Kenilworth early this morning to visit the heroes at our local Royal Mail Delivery Office in Barrow Road to thank them for all their work during the COVID-19 crisis (not least delivering the huge increase in parcel volumes) and to wish them a happy Christmas.

"I hope they'll enjoy eating the box of Heroes that I left with them."
