Alongside our 'Rewind' history series, Kenilworth Nub News is now launching a monthly column called 'Famous Faces' where we will be profiling a notable person from Kenilworth, both past and present.
First in this series is Kenilworth-born football legend Tim Flowers
A professional footballer and manager, Flowers was born in Kenilworth on February 3 1967 and began his career relatively locally, making his debut for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1984.
The Englishman would make 63 appearances in goal for Wolves before transferring to Southampton in 1986.
The £70,000 signing eventually became a first team regular towards the end of the decade, before making a career defining move to Blackburn Rovers for £2.4 million in November 1993.

This fee made him the most expensive goalkeeper in world football; Paul Gascoigne had become the most expensive the year before, having cost Lazio £5.5 million in the summer of 1992.
Flowers made 177 appearances for Blackburn; the side finished second in the Premier League in his first season behind Manchester United.
The next season the shot-stopper helped to secure the Premier League title for Kenny Dalglish's side, despite a famous 2-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on the final day of the 1994-5 season.
He also made 11 appearances for England during this time, making the squads for Euro 96 and the 1998 World Cup in France.
Flowers stayed at Ewood Park until he returned to the Midlands with Leicester City in 1999, after Rovers were relegated from the Premier League.
His move to Leicester saw him receive a League Cup winners medal in 2000 before retiring as a player in 2003.
In all, Flowers appeared 286 times in the Premier League, keeping 80 clean sheets and winning 123 matches.
A managerial career was born for Flowers in 2007 when he became assistant to Ian Dowie at Coventry City, a position he held for just one year.
He then took a first team manager role at Stafford Rangers for the 2010-11 season, followed by stints as the Northampton Town caretaker manager in 2011 and 2013.
After a five year hiatus, Flowers returned as a first team manager in 2018, taking the reigns at Solihull Moors before leaving by mutual consent in January 2020.
His frankly uninspiring managerial career was given another blow when he became manager of Macclesfield Town - the club was disbanded by a High Court ruling in September, 18 days after he took the job, and before his side played a single competitive match.
He now occupies the manager's position at National Conference side Barnet. They currently sit second bottom in the league, having won just once since he took charge.
