Kenilworth sporting stars are in with a chance of the limelight as Warwick District Council starts its hunt for local runners, footballers, and athletes to feature in a billboard campaign for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The 'Hometown Heroes' campaign aims to shine a light on people from the West Midlands region who have dedicated their lives to grassroots sport. The council is hoping that representatives from the district, will be amongst the faces chosen.

Warwick District Council's Portfolio Holder for Culture Councillor Moira-Ann Grainger commented "We know that there are many people in our local community who deserve to be recognised for their contribution to sport.

"This could be an inspiring coach, dedicated volunteer, courageous player or die-hard supporter, or anyone who's had a real impact on a local sports club, team or facility."

To nominate your Kenilworth sporting hero visit the Birmingham 2022 website.

Those entered can be connected to any sport and must work or live in the West Midlands. Entries close on Friday 6 November 2020.

The winning nominees will be chosen to feature on billboard adverts across the region in 2021, as the countdown to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games begins.
