Kenilworth residents planning a house move this summer are being urged to check the small details early, as school holidays, weekend bookings and month-end completion dates can quickly put pressure on local removals availability.

Military Movers UK, a veteran-led removals company based in Coventry and covering Kenilworth, Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands, says many moving day problems can be avoided with better planning before the van arrives.

The team says the most common issues are often simple ones: unclear parking, awkward access, unfinished packing, furniture that will not fit through doors, missing keys, or fragile items being left until the last minute.

Small checks can prevent bigger problems

Jacob, owner of Military Movers UK, said: "Most stressful moving days are not caused by one huge disaster. They usually come from a few small things being missed.

"Parking, access, keys, packing and furniture sizes all matter. If those things are checked early, the whole day normally runs much better."

The company advises households to walk through both properties before moving day and think about how everything will physically get in and out.

That means checking stairways, narrow hallways, flat entrances, lifts, driveways, loading areas and any parking restrictions near the property.

For larger items such as wardrobes, sofas, beds and dining tables, the team recommends measuring doorways and checking whether anything needs to be dismantled before the day itself.

What to pack separately

Military Movers UK also advises people to keep a separate essentials bag or box with the items they will need straight away.

This could include medication, chargers, keys, passports, bank cards, toiletries, a change of clothes, basic tools, snacks, pet items and important documents.

Jacob added: "Once everything is boxed up, it can be frustrating trying to find one thing you need that evening.

"We always suggest keeping your essentials separate and taking them with you if possible. It is a small step, but it saves a lot of hassle."

Comparing removals quotes

The company says residents should also make sure any removals quote is clear before booking.

A proper quote should explain what is included, such as packing, materials, storage, insurance, furniture dismantling, waiting time and access issues.

Military Movers UK says giving the removals team a clear picture of the move helps avoid confusion later. This includes the number of rooms, any heavy or fragile items, parking access, stairs, distance between addresses and whether storage or packing support is needed.

The Coventry-based team provides house removals, office removals, packing services, storage support, clearances and long-distance moves across Warwickshire, the West Midlands and the wider UK.
