Local residents can now apply to close their street to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

The King will be crowned, alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort, on Saturday, 6 May.

There will be events nationwide over the weekend of 6 to 8 May, and Kenilworth Town Council is currently considering plans for a town-wide celebration.

And residents in Kenilworth have until Friday, March 24 to apply to Warwick District Council to have their roads closed to hold smaller street parties.

Before a closure can be approved, all residents within the road must be consulted by letter, allowing two weeks to receive responses.

The consultation should also include any side roads that will be directly affected by the road closure.

A notice on the council's website said: "If it is not possible to close off your road, or finances do not allow for this, it may be possible to hold a 'Street Meet' within your road.

"This would mean that the carriageway remains open, but that the festivities could take place on Warwick District Council greenspace land.

"Not all roads will have greenspace land that is owned and maintained by Warwick District Council."

During the jubilee celebrations last year, over 30 streets across the district were closed for street parties.
