'What a load of bollards' locals baffled after Kenilworth pavement is dug up weeks after being laid

Kenilworth locals have been left baffled after a stretch of new pavement in the town centre was dug up last week to make way four new bollards, just weeks after it was laid.
One business owner told Nub News it was "madness" that Warwickshire County Council did not install the posts in February when the blocking off of Station Road was made permanent.
Over the past few weeks, the local authority has planted new trees, installed new planters and today (March 31) begun resurfacing the closed section of road.
Already controversial, the works to shut off the town centre road have been met with more negative reaction on social media, after the paving was dug up at the end of last week.

The bollards continue the run of posts which were already in place on the Warwick Road pavement.
While some users on social media have labelled the project a "waste of money" others have accused the council of "frittering" away tax payers' money and lacking "co-ordinated thinking".
Others have labelled the section an "eye-sore".
"No forward thinking or planning or simply no brains," another Facebook user wrote.
Another joked: "What a load of bollards."

Responding to the criticism, the county council told Nub News: "The bollards in question have just been installed because they were unavailable at the time the footpath works were carried out.
"They are a bespoke type of bollard designed to match existing Kenilworth street furniture which had to be ordered individually and needed a longer lead time for delivery.
"The council will work with the contractor to ensure the paving around the bollards is reinstated as soon as possible."
