Kenilworth pub named Warwickshire Pub of the Year
A Kenilworth pub has been named Warwickshire Pub of the Year by the Coventry and District branch of CAMRA.
The Old Bakery has received the 2023 title just months after being included in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
Local members presented the award to Sarj, Sanj and Suny at the end of last month, describing the High Street venue as a "fine establishment".
CAMRA awarded the Coventry Pub of the Year & Cider Pub of the awards to Hops d'Amour - a micro pub in the city centre.
Following the award the Old Bakery took to social media to say: "We're super proud to announce that we've been awarded pub of year for the Coventry and Warwickshire region by the prestigious CAMRA last night and we are truly honoured!"
The pub was included in the 2023 edition of UK's best-selling beer and pub guide at the end of last year, alongside 4,500 other pubs.
The most recent edition celebrates the guide's 50th anniversary and is compiled by thousands of independent volunteers.
The guide is based entirely on personal recommendations made by local CAMRA members, which are reviewed by branches and editors.
Following a recent visit to the Old Bakery, MP for Kenilworth and Southam Sir Jeremy Wright said: "Congratulations to the team at The Old Bakery in Kenilworth for their continued inclusion in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
"The hospitality industry has had a tough few years with the impact of the pandemic and cost of living pressures, but we are lucky to have so many great places locally to enjoy good service and great beer."
The Old Bakery also featured in the Grand Tour's second lockdown special, 'Carnage A Trois', in December 2021.
As well as serving a range of cask and draft beers the High Street venue also has 14 guest rooms.
