A Kenilworth opticians has been bowled over with donations to support the local foodbank.

Specsavers on The Square asked customers to drop off non-perishable items in store, which were then taken to St Francis of Assisi RC Church who distributed items to local families in need on behalf of The Trussell Trust.

"We want to say a big thank you to everyone who made a donation," comments Specsavers Kenilworth store director, Ambreena Bhatti.

"We know that the cost of living crisis is impacting so many of us, so to still receive so many donations was especially heart-warming."

The Warwick District Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

The foodbank provides three days' nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis.

Kenilworth Nub News reported last November that local foodbanks had seen a 20 per cent rise in demand over the past year.

For more information visit the store at 17 The Square, Kenilworth CV8 1EF, call 01926 865 030 or visit the website.
