Kenilworth Market cancelled due to heat warning
By James Smith 23rd Jun 2026
Kenilworth Market has been cancelled this week due to the heat warning.
The Met Office has raised the red alert from 9am on Wednesday, 24 June, until 9pm on Thursday, 25 June as temperatures of up to 40C are forecast across the country.
CJ's Events Warwickshire says it has made the "difficult decision" to cancel this week's Thursday market at Abbey End.
A company statement said: "This difficult decision has been made following a comprehensive risk assessment, prompted by the Met Office's Red Warning for Extreme Heat and intense humidity.
"Our assessment, conducted in close consultation with Warwick District Council, has concluded that it is not safe to hold the market under these extreme weather conditions.
"The safety and wellbeing of our traders, staff, and the general public remain our utmost priority.
"No trader will be permitted to trade on Thursday 25 June, regardless of their usual trading methods or setup. We urge all traders to adhere to this directive for the safety of everyone involved."
