Kenilworth Lions launches 'Love A Duck' Appeal

Kenilworth Lions has announced today (March 5) a brand new 'Love a Duck' appeal to help raise funds after the cancelled Boxing Day Duck Race.

As with almost every event of 2020, the annual duck race held on Boxing Day in Kenilworth had to be cancelled, depriving Kenilworth Lions of a much-needed fundraising opportunity.

The group had planned to reschedule the event for Easter Monday, however due to the current coronavirus restrictions in place, this will also not be possible.

Kenilworth Lions helps to provide community groups and charities with grants throughout the year, and so any loss in fundraising has a much wider impact in the community.

As such, the group is now offering residents the opportunity to make a donation through the 'Love A Duck' appeal.

Kenilworth Lions Public Relations Officer John Whitehouse said: "Sadly it has not been possible to run our hugely popular and well-supported Duck Race in Abbey Fields during the current Covid-19 crisis, either on its traditional date of Boxing Day nor on the alternative planned date of this Easter Monday.

"The Race is usually one of our biggest fund-raising events of the year, contributing many thousand of pounds towards helping us to maintain our active programme of charitable giving to support local charities and community support organisations in their vital work. During the current pandemic their needs have only become greater.

"Will you help us by making a generous donation to our special 'Love A Duck' appeal? You can find more details on the Duck Race page of our website, or you can go straight to our charitable giving page on CAF Donate by following this link.

"Thank you very much as always for your support."
