The owner of a Curves gym in Kenilworth is looking to reach a broader demographic as the business picks up following the pandemic.

Curves Kenilworth, a unique gym designed for women, is now calling on ladies to make the most of its offer for February: a complimentary workout on a one-to-one basis with a coach.

There is no commitment to sign up, but if you do you will receive 50 per cent off the joining fee with no contract obligation.

Curves' 30-minute full body workout can help you burn as many as 480 calories in one session. The circuit workout is designed to build muscle and take you in and out of cardio and fat burning in just 30 minutes.

Workouts can be tailored to people of all abilities and any age, from those looking to increase mobility and flexibility to those wanting to lose weight and increase muscle mass or to reshape their body.

The resistance machines on the circuit help increase bone density too which is very important for a women's health.

Owner Jane Westrope explained: "It's a great time to come and try and see what a unique environment we have. Before we know it, summer will be here and now's the time to get sunshine ready."

Once signed up, each new member receives five one-to-one sessions with a personal coach as well as a variety of other complimentary benefits.

There are coaches in the gym on hand to give tips and help structure the members' workout. The coach assists members ensuring they are using the equipment correctly, getting the most out of their workout.

Jane said: "It is this personal touch that sets Curves apart.

"The level of service you get is second to none.

"We know each member; everyone is greeted by name. Members walk through our door and are welcomed by coaches they know and want to talk to about their health and fitness objectives. We have monthly reviews, check blood pressure and perform body fat analysis to name but a few of the services included within the Curves membership.

"We have many members who have been with us since we opened 15 years ago, something that is unusual in the fitness industry.

"It is a gym where ladies of all ages and backgrounds can come and feel comfortable and confident in themselves, you can see this as our members range in age from 14 to 87 years old."

Jane took over the Kenilworth gym in January 2020 after being a member herself at Curves for 12 years and said it was the only sort of gym she wanted to run.

"I love what it does for women and the total support it provides for them," she added.

"I get that there are a lot of people out there who don't like exercising, and there are a lot of girls and ladies that don't feel comfortable in gyms, even me as a personal trainer sometimes felt uncomfortable in other gyms.

"And a lot of ladies feel uneasy in a conventional gym often not knowing what to do, feeling embarrassed about their figure, feeling too old etc. Curves is different. Members feel comfortable in our gym. No one needs to feel embarrassed or worried when they exercise.

"All members get the support the require when they need it. We care.

"We really are a very lovely community at Curves, like a family. The support the members have given me and my team during the Covid crisis has been astounding."

As part of the community outlook of the business, Jane donates a proportion of all member fees to local and national charities.

"Throughout the year we run raffles and tombola's to increase on this charitable donation," she said.

"The members are very generous and enjoy taking part."

Last year Curves Kenilworth raised over £500 and donated to the local foodbank, the Ukrainian crisis centre and twinned a toilet for women in Africa.
