Crews from across south Warwickshire were rushed to a fire at a scrap yard in Ryton-On-Dunsmore just before 7pm yesterday.

Firefighters from Leamington, Rugby and Kenilworth were called to the incident where a 20 metre high pile of scrap was alight.

Crews contained the fire, but will return to the scene in daylight today to make sure no hotspots remain.

"The scrap yard fire involved a scrap pile measuring 20mx20m with a height of 20m," a Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service statement said.

"The fire was extinguished utilising main jets and hose reel jets, augmented from a local water source and the water carrier.

"The on-site grabber was also utilised to split up the scrap pile."
