By James Smith 24th Mar 2022

Kenilworth fire crews have rescued a resident from sheltered accommodation that was filled with smoke from some unattended cooking.

Crews were called to the accommodation late on Tuesday night where they found the resident asleep as the property filled with smoke.

Oxygen therapy was given whilst they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

A Kenilworth Fire Station spokesperson said: "At 11:44pm along with a crew from Leamington Fire Station we attended reports of fire alarms sounding at sheltered accomodation in Kenilworth.

"On our arrival we made entry into the property and found cooking had been left unattended and filled the property with smoke.

"The resident was asleep inside the property.

"After clearing the property of smoke crews administered oxygen therapy whilst awaiting the arrival of the ambulance service."
