A Kenilworth councillor has stepped down from Warwick District Council (WDC), prompting an election.

Lara Cron has stepped down from the Kenilworth Park Hill ward at the local authority.

The Green Party councillor was voted onto the district council for the first time in May 2023.

Her resignation follows that of Labour's Cllr Helen Adkins who stepped down both as councillor for Leamington Clarendon and as housing portfolio holder.

The council has today (August 7) confirmed elections for both seats will take place in September.

"Following the resignation of Helen Adkins (Leamington Clarendon) and Lara Cron (Kenilworth Park Hill), there are two vacancies in the office of councillor for the district of Warwick in these two wards," a WDC statement said.

"If any election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 18 September 2025."
