As winter approaches, many low-income pensioners in the local community are concerned about losing the Winter Fuel Allowance and are struggling to meet basic living costs - a local charity has said.

Compassionate Kenilworth is responding to this "urgent issue" by offering free drop-in sessions to help pensioners on low incomes check their eligibility for pension credits.

Many pensioners do not realize they qualify for pension credits, which can provide crucial additional financial support.

Supported through funding from Kenilworth Town Council the charity is running multiple drop-ins at the Kenilworth Centre in October and November.

Are you or someone you know missing out on pension credits?

If you're a pensioner with a weekly income below £218.15 (single) or £332.95 (couple), you may be eligible for pension credits, which can help boost your income and ensure you do not miss out on benefits like the Winter Fuel Allowance.

Head to one of the drop-in sessions at the Kenilworth Centre on the following dates:

  • Thursday, October 17 -12:15 to 1:30 pm
  • Wednesday, October 23 - 12:15 to 1:30 pm
  • Wednesday, November 6 - 12:15 to 1.30pm
  • Thursday, November 14 - 12:15 to 1.30pm
  • Wednesday, November 20 -12:15 to 1.30pm

In addition, Act on Energy will be attending the Tuesday hub at St Francis of Assisi on October 29 10-12 to support anyone with their home energy related issues / concerns such as:

  • Energy efficiency tips to reduce bills
  • Grants and funding for energy efficiency measures
  • Help with fuel bills and debt
  • Billing issues with suppliers
