Kenilworth Castle will close all day next Monday (September 19) as a mark of respect during Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.

While full details of the service are yet to be announced, the Queen's state funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey at 11.00am.

A post on the castle's social media page said: "As a mark of respect, English Heritage is closing Kenilworth Castle on Monday 19 September 2022 for Her Majesty The Queen's funeral."

The castle opened its doors for free on Sunday (September 11) for Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Sam Louden-Cooke to read the Proclamation of the Accession of King Charles III.

Hundreds of residents attended the event.

Elsewhere, Warwick Arts Centre will also close on Monday.

People across the nation will also observe a one minute's silence on Sunday September 18 at 8pm to reflect on her life.
