A local author has released the latest publication in her series of children's books.

Fletcher and the Seasons by Julia Rawlinson follows Fletcher the kind-hearted fox and his friends through the four seasons in their woodland home.

The ninth work in the Fletcher's Four Seasons series, this latest publication is the first 'board book' to be released.

The third board book from publishers Graffeg, introduces the youngest readers to the concept of the four seasons.

Each seasonal section contains the name of the season along with a rhyming couplet explaining some of the things that happen in nature during that time, for example, blossom falling in spring and the sun shining in summer.

The gentle rhyming text is accompanied by beautiful watercolour illustrations by Tiphanie Beeke.

"Perfect for early years education and home learning, this simple text encourages children to be observant and spot the changes that happen in nature over the course of a year," Graffeg said.

"The text also uses a variety of different sounds and phonetics to help increase vocabulary."

Published on October 26, Fletcher and the Seasons is now available.

And to celebrate the new release, Julia has teamed up with Kenilworth Books in Talisman Square to run a Fletcher and the Falling Leaves half term story walk, and will be at the bookshop for colouring, book chat and signing on Thursday November 2 from 10.30am to 12noon.

As always, the story walk is free and self-guided, and you do not have to buy a book to come to the event.
