Kenilworth abattoir 'unaffected' as business confirms restructure
By James Smith 20th Mar 2026
The owner of a Kenilworth abattoir say it will not be affected by a restructuring within the company - and output may actually increase at the Warwickshire site.
Farmers Fresh - which runs the Rouncil Lane site - has confirmed plans to stop operations at its site near Wrexham and to lease the premises out to Millers of Speyside.
The move was confirmed earlier this year as the business looked to tackle "ongoing challenging trading conditions".
The major meat processor said earlier this year: "Farmers Fresh Wales will continue to maintain a presence within the marketplace, with agreed capacity at the Wrexham site enabling lamb processing throughout the year.
"The business remains committed to working with its long-standing and valued customers across Britain, Europe and beyond."
The move is expected to see increased production at the Kenilworth site as more lambs are processed.
Company managing director Wayne Lammas confirmed to Farmers Weekly that operations in Kenilworth will not be affected by the restructure.
Farmers Fresh is a farmer-owned collective.
In 2022 Warwick District Council granted permission to build a new refrigeration unit which could store up to 1,500 extra lamb carcasses.
