Join the Kenilworth church marking National Day of Reflection next week

By James Smith 1st Nov 2021

To mark the 'anniversary' of the fist UK national lockdown, and for the National Day of Reflection, St Nicholas Church in Kenilworth will be holding a moment of reflection, and is asking residents to do the same.

Tuesday, March 23 will see groups and individuals up and down the nation pause to think about what has been lost over the past twelve months. St Nicholas Church is encouraging Kenilworth's residents to do the same.

Next Tuesday, there will be a moment of reflection led in the church yard in Abbey Fields, starting at 11.55am.

Residents are invited to join from a distance, whether socially in the park whilst taking their daily exercise, or from the comfort and safety of their own homes. The moment of reflection will be broadcast live in the Facebook community group 'Kenilworth Vibes'.

Vicar at St Nicholas Church Stella Bailey said: "Since the first lockdown began in 2020, hundreds of thousands of people have died. Too many lives have been cut short and millions have been bereaved.

"Behind the statistics and whatever the cause, every death has been devastating for the people left behind. Over the past year we have all suffered loss in so many ways; jobs, relationships, opportunities, independence and people we love.

"There are still tough times ahead, as the death toll continues to rise and we face the financial impact of this pandemic. This annual day will give us all time to pause and think about this unprecedented loss we're facing and support each other through grief in the years to come."
