The much-loved Christmas pantomime produced by the Talisman Theatre in Kenilworth is set to go online to bring some festive cheer to the end of 2020.

As is the tag line with almost all events currently, the annual pantomime staged by volunteers at the Talisman Theatre has had to be cancelled this year, and will instead be replaced by a virtual performance.

Starting on Saturday, December 19, and running for 11 days over Christmas until January 2, the theatre will be streaming a recording of their 2010 production of 'Mother Goose.'

Written and directed by the Talisman's very own Stephen Duckham, it has all the normal mayhem and spectacle with Steve Smith as Mother Goose, Des McCann as (Silly) Billy Goose, Gill Bowser as Grizelda, Wendy Morris as Queen of Gooseland and David Pinner as the Squire.

Tickets have to be booked online from the Talisman website, and cost just £5 each. Once purchased, audiences will receive a link for the performance of their choice.

The link will be live from 11am to 11pm on the day chosen – so can be started whenever during that period. The pantomime last two hours so viewers will need to start watching no later than 9pm to avoid being cut off.

Speaking to Kenilworth Nub News Stephen Duckham said "Many families look forward to their annual trip to join us for the pantomime and will be hugely disappointed not to be able to visit us this year. So this year we're taking the pantomime to audiences in the comfort and safety of your own homes."

Steve Smith, Artistic Director added "Mother Goose was sold out when we performed it, so we thought why not stream the video we made at the time. Filmed with a live audience, you can join in the laughter, cheer the hero, hiss the baddy - just as you would if you were in the theatre. Not only that but you'll have the best seats in the house!"

As with all theatres and businesses in the arts the Talisman has been closed since March, thus reducing the vital income that the theatre needs in order to keep going.

As such, Mother Goose presents a great opportunity for audiences to enjoy a pantomime, and for the Theatre to gain some much-needed income.

Nigel Elliott, Chair of the Talisman said "We know there will be many families for whom money will be tight this Christmas so we hope offering Mother Goose at £5 will enable whole families to enjoy a show. And for those who are able, there's the opportunity to donate more to support our Theatre."
