Husband and wife team to leave Kenilworth pub after two years
By James Smith 25th Jan 2026
A husband and wife team are set to leave a Kenilworth community pub next month, two years after first taking over.
Jon and Theresa Sabin took over at the Wyandotte Inn at the end of January 2024, having already been regulars at the pub themselves.
A professional DJ, host and compere, Jon had hosted the Wyandotte's New Year's party on a number of occasions and taking over at the Stoneleigh Road venue was the couple's first time running a pub.
But after two "fantastic years" they are set to leave in February to move to another pub.
"The Wyandotte has been an absolutely fantastic starter for us to get into something new," Jon told Nub News.
"It is one of those bittersweet moments.
"It is a lovely pub, it really is, the clients are fantastic, we have a lovely bunch of regulars who come day in day out.
"We just hope the next people that come in can take it to the next level."
Jon and Theresa have not revealed what their next venture will be, but the Wyandotte is already lining up a new tenant and will remain open under a temporary manager come February.
The duo have already held their goodbye party, which they said was a great occasion.
"We had Six Foot Drop and their new frontman last weekend which was absolutely amazing," Jon continued.
"For the 17 January, which is normally a quiet night with dry January and after New Year's, it was absolutely fantastic.
"All the locals came out, the regulars, it was brilliant."

Over the past two years, events have also become a staple at the Wyandotte, with music, karaoke, race nights and more filling the social calendar.
Some of these nights are among Jon's highlights from the past two years.
"There have been loads of high points," he said.
"Obviously all the entertainment we've done over the past couple of years has been fantastic.
"It has been received really well and supported well by the community which has been good.
"Everything from the silent disco to all the different band nights that we do, from the tributes, my own karaoke and quizzes and stuff like that, it's been really good.
"But I think Christmas is probably the one that really stands out and Halloween.
"We've had two amazing halloween parties here as well as Santa's Grotto in the pub this Christmas which was great."
And with the couple thanking those who have supported them along the way, Jon urged the local community to get behind the new landlord.
"I would definitely say to the community that this is a community pub," he said.
"It is a good old traditional pub that loves kids, loves pets, and use it more.
"We have such an amazing bunch of regulars that are the community, they are the locals.
"But for the area that it is in, it's one of those pubs, if they don't use it eventually, like all the others, it will go.
"So people need to start using their locals a bit more. It's an amazing pub. It's got a great character.
"The energy is absolutely fantastic. Everybody's welcome."
