Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Waste Lane in Berkswell for three days next month while HS2 completes work on a new crossing.

The traffic management measures will be in operation between 9am and 3pm from Monday 19 October until Wednesday 21 October.

According to HS2, the lights are needed to allow contractors to "complete the Pegasus crossing and carry out any associated works on the pavement between Waste Lane overbridge and Dragon Flies".

A Pegasus crossing is a signal-controlled crossing designed for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.

HS2 said the temporary traffic lights are required "so that we can complete our work safely" and will be removed "as soon as we are able to do so".

Motorists travelling through the area have been warned to expect some disruption during the works, with longer journey times possible while the traffic management is in place.

However, HS2 confirmed that access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained throughout the three-day project.

In a notice to residents, the company said: "We will be installing temporary traffic lights on Waste Lane so that we can complete the Pegasus crossing and carry out any associated works on the pavement between Waste Lane overbridge and Dragon Flies."

The works form part of the wider HS2 programme in the area.

HS2 said the rail project is currently undergoing "a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost".

The company added that the work is being carried out in stages and is expected to be completed in 2026.

Residents and road users are being advised to allow extra time for journeys while the temporary traffic lights are in place.
