HS2 has announced details for upcoming overnight closures of the A46.

The dual carriageway was due to shut in South Warwickshire for the works in August but the works were postponed.

Closures are needed for the "final safety, central reservation and utility work" and then to remove all the traffic management on the A46.

A full closure of the A46 will take place overnight on weekends in October, meanwhile other dates will see lane or slip road closures.

HS2 has confirmed the following works:

  • 8pm to 6am Friday 26 September - the closure of two lanes northbound between Thickthorn and Stoneleigh.
  • 8pm to 6am Saturday 27 September, the closure of the southbound slip onto the A46 at the Stoneleigh junction and the closure of two lanes between Festival Island and Thickthorn
  • Saturday 4, Sunday 5, Saturday 18 and on Sunday 19 October 8pm to 6am, a full closure of the A46 between Festival Island and Thickthorn Island.
  • 8pm to 6am Monday 20 October, the closure of the southbound slip at Stoneleigh and two lanes south between Stoneleigh and Thickthorn.

"While we deliver the works there will be increased construction activity overnight, some additional noise and ongoing lane closures," HS2 said.

"Once complete all lanes of the A46 will be open.

"To ensure the safety of our workforce, we will be closing a section of the A46 from the Stivichall Interchange (Festival Island) to the Thickthorn Island (A452), and the southbound slip road at Stoneleigh."
