Molly Bufton-Stear has be the recipient of a Points of Light Award, for her volunteering efforts during the lockdown period.

The award, which was launched in the UK in 2014 is administered by the Prime Minister's Office, and dedicated to rewarding volunteers making a real impact in their community.

Molly, the person behind 'Molly's Meals', has delivered over 2,500 meals to 45 residents during the lockdown period, completely free of charge.

Her initiative was born shortly before the national lockdown began in mid-March. Having raised over £3,000, organised donations from local shops and producers, as well as mobilised a team of volunteers, Molly is certainly a worthy recipient of the award.

Molly is no stranger to such work however, having seen the power of community spirit during her recent International Citizen Service placement in Zanzibar.

PM Boris Johnson also touched on her past experience, writing to Molly he said "I wanted to thank you for your fantastic achievement in raising an army of local volunteers to deliver over a thousand meals to people in need.

"I was particularly interested to learn of your time volunteering in Zanzibar and your reflections on the strength of communities coming together and helping one another.

"Through 'Molly's Meals' you have channelled that spirit with a kindness and fellowship that has defined the very best of our country through this difficult period."

Molly said "I am so grateful for the recognition and to be receiving this amazing award! I am so thankful to the volunteers that are continuing the 'Molly's Meals' service, and for everyone who has supported it along the way.

"I know there are so many people doing amazing things and I hope this community spirit continues on into the future."

Molly has also featured on the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire podcast talking about her efforts during lockdown.
