Here is our second gallery of images from Kenilworth School's USU Talent Shows

Students from across the year groups at Kenilworth School came together last month to put on three nights of entertainment as part of the school's Africa week.

The Urban Sounds for Uyogo charity talent show was hosted between February 15 and 17, raising funds for Elephants for Africa, Water Aid and Kenilworth Uyogo Friendship Link.

Organised by sixth form students, the show had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

So the USU committee had to find alternative means of fundraising in 2021 which included a cycling challenge which raised over £1,800.

The money was used to buy 36 bikes for girls in rural Tanzania to get to school.

And a montage video showing pupils fundraising and the students receiving the bicycles in Africa was shown during the talent shows.

As well as singing, bands and other performances, a group of girls from Kenilworth School also produced a dance exploring the experiences of Jewish people during the Holocaust.

Religious Studies teacher Luke Ovenden, who co-ordinates the USU project, said the shows had been a brilliant experience for all involved.

"It was a really fantastic week," he said.

"We haven't got the final fundraising amount but it does look like we have raised over £6,000 across the week.

"All the pupils said they had a great time, performing in the shows. They were all enthused about the cause, where the money was going and they were all really pleased to be able to use their talents for that.

"It became quite an integral part of the week to celebrating that. It was great to show the video of the pupils that got involved in the bike challenge and then showing what the money had gone to with the girls in Uyogo.

"So that was a big celebration in the end which was great."
