GALLERY: Kenilworth in the snow ten years on

By James Smith 1st Nov 2021

Following the reception of our images of Abbey Fields in the snow, we have put together a gallery of images of Kenilworth during the White Christmas of 2010

2010 saw a few instances of snow in the lead up to Christmas, with smatterings hitting Coventry, Warwick and Kenilworth in the last week of November. The first large snowfall came on the night of Monday, December 6, with residents waking up to a blanket of snow over Kenilworth on Tuesday 7.

Then on Saturday, December 18 2010 three inches of snow fell during the day, which the BBC weather forecast had not predicted. The snow settled and was added to on December 22 as up to five inches covered much of the town.

Such was the cold and the lack of sunshine, the snow did not begin to thaw until Christmas Eve, and it wasn't until the new year had begun that the ground was completely clear once again.
