Over 1,500 plastic ducks will once again race their way along Finham Brook as the annual Boxing Day Duck Race returns to Kenilworth for 2025.

Organised by Kenilworth Lions, the popular Boxing Day event will return to Abbey Fields on Friday (December 26).

Getting underway at 12noon, the festivities will begin with the corporate duck race. First introduced in 2021, the initiative sees local businesses decorate their own larger decoy duck, with the winner taking money for a local charity.

The main event will then begin at 12.15pm with the thousands of plastic ducks taking on the 200 metre course.

The first four finishers will take prizes of £100, £75, £50 and £25 respectively.

Spectators can buy tickets corresponding to the number on the bottom of the ducks.

Tickets have been sold over the past few weeks and any remaining will be available on the day in Abbey Fields from 10am on Boxing Day.

Kenilworth Lions said: "All prizes will be available for collection on the day from the ford end, where the ducks were launched or can be collected from Kenilworth Lions Furniture Store on a Saturday morning – please bring your numbered ticket with you."

A refreshment van will be available at the ford end.

In the event of extremely poor weather affecting health and safety or needing to cancel the Duck Race, a draw will be done on the day by the Mayor of Kenilworth and the winning numbers advertised.

New for 2025, duck race tickets will have a QR code allowing the owner to see the winning numbers as soon as they are shared.

"We look forward to seeing you at this very popular event and hearing the cheers as the duck's swim down Finham Brook to the finish line, supported by the Kenilworth Lions waders of course," organisers added.

"Happy Boxing Day everyone from the Kenilworth Lions Members and Volunteers!"
