Kenilworth locals are being encouraged to take part in this week's VE Day commemorations.

Kenilworth will be joining towns and cities across the country on Thursday 8 May 2025 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day – Victory in Europe - which marked the end of the Second World War in Europe.

From 7.30pm to 9.30pm, Kenilworth Town Council will be hosting a commemorative event at Kenilworth Castle.

The community event will feature a service by the Royal British Legion, a performance by local school choirs, a piper and the lighting of a beacon in one of the castle's towers.

The free event will take place at The Stables at the castle and over 100 local children will be performing.

Memories will also be performed by theatre actors from Talisman Theatre and there will be a poetry reading by the Twinning Association.

The council will also be providing small tealights to each guest to represent the Lamp Light of Peace and will also be providing a VE Day 80 themed cake for each care home in the town.
