Security measures are to be installed around Warwick District Council's (WDC) form headquarters to prevent "break-ins and unwanted anti-social behaviour".

The steps - which include metal screens to the windows and doors - come after the local authority vacated Riverside House in Leamington Spa in March 2024.

The site is set to be sold to Homes England and converted into houses.

Locals have twice been consulted on plans to repurpose the base into 150 homes, but a planning application is yet to be signed off.

The project could also see Edmonscote Athletics track relocated.

Cllr Ian Davison, leader of Warwick District Council commented: "The future regeneration of this site to include affordable and energy efficient homes in partnership with Homes England remains a key project for our council.

"However, in the meantime it is important that we protect the area against possible damage and vandalism whist this important process is taking place".

The first of the plans for the redevelopment of Riverside House will go to the council's planning committee in the New Year.

WDC said the move from Riverside House could save taxpayers up to £250,000 per year.

Security measures will be installed over the coming days.
