Firefighters were needed to help rescue an elderly man in Kenilworth who was stuck in a broken stairlift.

The local crew was called to an unnamed address in the town this morning (February 5) where the malfunctioning stairlift had left the man "marooned" on the stairs.

Crews assisted carers and a lifeline responder to release the gentleman unharmed.

"A lot of the incidents that we get mobilised to we class as 'special service calls', this morning we were mobilised to one of these incidents," a Kenilworth Fire Station statement said.

"The crew were alerted this morning to our 5th incident this month, to an address in Kenilworth where a malfunctioning stairlift had marooned an elderly gentleman on the stairs."
