A disqualified driver who was wanted on recall to prison crashed in Stoneleigh after a police chase over the weekend, and then failed a roadside drugs test.

Officers from Warwickshire's Operational Patrol Unit arrested the man and have helped return him to prison after the incident on St Martin's Road.

Significant damage was caused to the Honda Civic and the female passenger was also arrested after checks showed she was wanted for drugs offences.

"The driver was disqualified from driving had no insurance and was wanted on a recall to prison.

"The driver crashed on the junction with Ashow Road and we arrested him from the drivers seat.

"The driver also failed a roadside drugs test for cocaine."

It added: "The driver has now been returned to Prison and will face further charges in relation to this Incident."
