A battle between neighbours of an extension to a Kenilworth home will be settled next week.

Councillors at Warwick District Council will decide whether to grant planning permission for a two-storey extension for a house on Arthur Street.

Multiple objections have been received from neighbours who say the works are "excessive," will cause a lot of noise, have an impact on privacy and could allow the property to become an HMO in the future.

One local wrote: "I believe the proposal would have an unacceptable impact on neighbouring residential amenity through loss of light, increased enclosure, loss of privacy, noise and disturbance, and additional parking pressures."

However, planning officers believe the application should be approved and have recommended to councillors that the scheme be given the green light.

"Neighbours have raised concerns regarding the proposed development being excessive in scale," a council report said.

"Officers have determined that the proposed extensions would not detract from the distinctiveness of the application dwellinghouse and allows for the original dwellinghouse's character to remain legible."

The application originally included a new porch but this was removed as it was considered "incongruous".
